Pete Wylie

Pete Wylie: part time rock star – full time legend.

Pete is best known as the leader of The Mighty Wah! and its various incarnations, including Wah!, Wah! Heat, Shambeko! Say Wah! and Wah! And The Mongrel.

His string of massive hits include The Story Of The Blues, Come Back, Sinful, 7 Minutes to Midnight and the LFC anthem Heart As Big As Liverpool. He has written scores for Hurricane Films, Alex Cox and Radio 4.

In recent years he’s headlined the Hillsborough Justice Tour with Mick Jones. Staggeringly articulate, funny and wise, his TV and radio appearances include The Culture Show, BBC 4’s Pop On Trial, new film Walk On, (the story of You’ll Never Walk Alone), and any number of BBC Radio documentaries.

Two magnificent recent sell-out acoustic shows (the first for a couple of years) in Liverpool and at the Laugharne Weekend have been hailed as a huge critical and public success; there are two studio albums: Pete Sounds and Slime on the way; he’s the subject of an important new documentary from the makers of The Ballad of Mott The Hoople, and he’s writing his autobiography, MemWah! which is under negotiation with a couple of big publishers.

And there are imminent reissues of the epic and beautiful back catalogue that marks him out as one of the great songwriters of the last 35 years.
